Oral Appliance Therapy for Snoring and Apnea

Oral Appliance Therapy is the dental care which is oriented towards the diagnosis of snoring and destructive apnea. In this therapy, an orthodontic retainer of mouth gourd like device is prepared to wear in the mouth at the time of sleeping.

There are two main types of ORT devices:
  • Mandibular repositioning devices – These oral devices reposition the jaw forward and down to keep the path of aviation open during rest.
  • Tongue retaining devices – With these devices, the tongue are kept in the place so that the airways remain open.
